Wraithwood Trees

Wraithwood trees are easily recognized by their haunting, skeletal forms. They are characterized by twisted and contorted trunks and branches, often devoid of leaves or bark. The wood itself is a pale, grayish-white, giving the trees a spectral appearance, especially in dim light or fog. They often appear as if frozen in a perpetual state of decay, though the wood is surprisingly durable. They can range in size from small, shrub-like forms to towering, gnarled giants.   Wraithwood trees are typically found in areas saturated with negative or necrotic energy. They are often found growing in or near graveyards, battlefields, or places where significant death or tragedy has occurred. They seem to draw sustenance from this negative energy, and their presence can further amplify the oppressive atmosphere of such locations. They are rarely found in places of peace or joy. They prefer damp, shadowy areas and are often shrouded in mist or fog.   Wraithwood trees have few practical uses. Due to their association with death and negative energy, they are generally avoided. Some necromancers and other practitioners of dark magic are known to use Wraithwood in their rituals or for crafting certain magical items, though this is not common knowledge. The wood is sometimes used to fuel necromantic fires, as it is believed to burn with an unnatural, cold flame. It is generally considered unlucky to use Wraithwood for any other purpose.
