The Knighthood of the Thunderflock Guild

The Knighthood of the Thunderflock Guild is the main military force of Ice Crest. They began as a knighthood that worshiped the Deafening Spartan and upheld the values of strength, bravery, and honor among all else. Their founder, Sir Hakim Scotts, was an aarakocra who fought and defended the name of the Deafening Spartan in a full set of metal armor. The institution has not been around for long being founded slightly less than a century ago. 
They had a noble presence and did their job well in protecting Ice Crest. This was until the Cursed Wings came to their shoreline. The small city-state had little defense beyond the Knighthood. The Knighthood found courage and defended the city for 48 until reinforcements from Trostenwald arrived. As the battle continued Duke Barotov, a high-ranking knight, guided the Knighthood, despite Sir Scotts being more than capable. He led them away from the battlefield and through his command was able to fully evacuate Ice Crest. This resulted in minimum civilian casualties and fewer bodies for the Cursed Wings to add to their undead army. In the end, it was his quick thinking that allowed the Trostenwald military to swiftly end the attempt at invasion.
For his quick whit, Duke Barotov was named leader of Ice Crest and given a large deposit of gold in his pockets, courtesy of the Court of Countillan. They also gave this reward of wealth to the Knighthood. Unfortunately, Sir Scotts was left with a sour taste in his mouth. He took the overwhelming amount of money and used it to over-police the people of Ice Crest and to fulfill his dreams of luxury. 
The Knighthood got used to the increase in wealth and salaries, but it wasn't a consistent stream and eventually dried up. To continue their living habits they allowed criminals to slip gold into their feathers and in return, they would turn a blind eye. This made Ice Crest a hub for wealthy criminals trying to escape prosecution. Duke Barotov was able to keep the Knighthood's corruption restrained, however after an attack on his castle that resulted in his death, they have been left to their own devices.
Although the Knighthood has faced consequences for their actions. As Sir Scotts was doing his routine nightly parameter check in a storm he was struck by a bolt of lightning so powerful it lit up the sky for a full minute. There was no possible way it was not a sign of the Deafening Spartan's disapproval. As for Sir Scott, the lightning bolt rocketed throughout his suit of iron armor so violently that anyone in the area could smell burnt turkey for a week. The next morning all that was found of Sir Scott was his iron armor in a 10ft deep creator still smoking and cracked.
