Halfbreeds

"The halfbreeds are a curious case of subverted expectations. One could be frightened, or persuaded into believing that the dilution of their parentage would create an overall lesser form, but the truth is that they tend to embody the strengths, creating something arguably unique and superior. Such is not always the case, and there is of course a misery that need not be spoken aloud in the advent of some halfbreeds, but in my experience they are a people of remarkable talents and resilience."
— Rennian Kaldwell, Historian

Half-Elves

Despised by the Saturnine Elves of Dalair, and beloved by the Elysium Elves of Iskandar, the province of the world where a Half-Elf is born greatly tailors their experiences regarding their lineage.   In the lands of the Magisterium Half-Elves are often forbidden from learning the arts of grand sorcery, and those born with innate powers of magic are often condemned to the soul-separation of the Crucibles at a very young age. For this reason, Half-Elven children of Dalair are often smuggled to their sister realm of Iskandar in the west, or to the Freelands in the north. The hatred for Half-Elves in the lands of Dalair stems from their belief in Rizion as an Endless in mortal form, and human blood diluting one's connection to that deific lineage.   While the Elvish blood of a Halfbreed is often considered the superior trait, it is the Human lineage they possess that make them more renowned and welcome in the greater world of Orr. The immaculate, almost manufactured Elvish features, while striking and beautiful, are often considered by many races to be indistinct from one individual to the next. Half-Elves, however, are a wonderful medley of Elvish beauty and Human variety. Their Human ancestry also allows Half-Elves to display a more engaging range of emotions, a trait which many pure-blood Elves are far too reserved in custom to express.

Half-Orcs

The Half-Orc is an ignoble being whose parentage is a topic too gruesome for polite conversation. They are inevitably all bastards, and are quietly pitied among their community for their circumstance. However, this origin, as heinous as it might be, is rarely what comes to mind when the denizens of Orr consider the Half-Orc. Human intelligence mixed with Orc strength and cunning has proven time and time again to be a perfect cocktail for the world's most superior warriors, knights, and commanders. Over the many eras, Half-Orcs have solidified themselves as fearsomely talented in the arts of warfare, and casually obtain ranks in both the Iskar Astartes and the legions of Lord Drin that others spend their lives trying to achieve. Like any broad generalization there are exceptions, and especially when a Half-Orc's desire is to obtain a more masterful trade it can be a burden to convince the members of their community to see them as inventive, artistic, and perhaps even delicate.   Another battle that many Half-Orcs experience is the desire to understand the side of their heritage that they have often been removed from. Orc clans and tribes have been known to adopt Half-Orcs into their ranks under certain circumstances, and even to allow some to 'visit' their societies to gain insight, but the opportunity to do so is rare, and dangerous. While most Half-Orcs would never dream of leaving civilized life behind to join a warband, there have been a handful of notable exceptions.
