Cultural event
Last night a Charity Gala was held at the Starlight Commune, hosted by Lord Frederick Sondeheim (ONX) and his wife, Lady Lauranna Scheldt-Sondeheim. A dazzling show of who's who in the Valtinist world, with Princess Anastasia Valane (ONX), Demba and Salif Madawi (ONX), Former First Ranger Athena Henson (IND) and notable Captain Ranger Grant Scheldt (IND) were in attendance to name a few. Notably no Valtinists from across the political aisle were in attendance, when asked, Lord Sondeheim simply said “I had hoped to see them here today, invitations were extended. Their company and patronage will be missed.”

A charity auction was the highlight of the evening, with items donated by many in attendance. Lots included a luncheon with Demba Madawi where he would “reveal the tips and tricks to succeed as a devout Valtinist in the ever changing political landscape”, a rock taken from Mars before it was terraformed donated by Princess Valane, the Cohort Badge of the Dawn Light Ranger Company who defended New Corinth during the State of Chaos, and a tour of Luxor Cathedral, escorted personally by Lord Sondeheim himself. This was bought by Lord Sondeheim's father-in-law Captain-Ranger Scheldt who remarked “I've only been twice and seeing the magnificent architecture again is worth it. And my grandkids live down the road!”
Scheldt paid A$2 million for the experience, with this not being the highest ticket item of the night. With purchases being made such as A$3 million for a diamond tiara belonging to pre FTL royal family, A$7 million for a mural painted by top Martian street artist Fetcha, and A$11 million for a signed MMMA shirt from famed pilot Willis Coheer.
Following the auction, Lord Sondeheim gave a short speech praising the unity that Terrans and Valtinists have shown in the face of many challenges. Warning of “continued Dhau aggression that we must be prepared for” and that he prays “we continue to work together, give generously and follow the Universe’s Plan, in the face of danger, uncertainly, and fear.”
The Charity Gala raised A$6 billion in total, with the funds being directed toward social spending projects across the Republic.
