Faun

Much like their cousin, the Satyr, Faun are goat-like Senitants that live in the woods.

Basic Information

Anatomy

A Faun's upper-half is indistinguishable from that of a Human's, save for two horns atop their head, greatly varying in size between different Fauns. Their bottom half, on the other hand, is furred, hooved, and digitigrade, almost identical to that of a Satyr.

Growth Rate & Stages

Faun age slightly faster than humans, reaching adulthood at around 14 to 16, but tend to live much, much longer lives.

Dietary Needs and Habits

In their own villages, Faun are almost exclusively vegetarians. Most commonly, they only partake in the enjoyment of meats whenever they are socializing with Satyrs.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Faun villages are very community-oriented, being lead by a trio of elders. They have no other leaders, but they will often seek wisdom from the local Dryads or even Wood Elves if there are any in the area. Outside of their elders, Faun in a single village all share the same authority, the same rank as one another.

Facial characteristics

Faun's faces reflect that of Humans, differentiating only in the fairness of their features; by human standards, Faun are beautiful people, perhaps even on par with the Elves.

Average Intelligence

Faun are very intelligent beings, but not any more so than most other Senitant races.

Civilization and Culture

Courtship Ideals

Faun courtship is seen as rather perverse to most other cultures, trying to be as charmig and seductive as they can be to lay with their chosen partner. If the partner ignores the attempt, the trying Faun will either keep trying until the answer changes, or eventually give up. If, on the other hand, the partner accepts and the act is performed within a ring of flowers, picked earlier in the day, then the two are considered partners.

Relationship Ideals

Faun partners are nearly inseparable, going everywhere and doing everything together. Even if one goes to war, the other will go as well. This bond of unbreaking companionship is what a relationship between Fauns means. Similar to the standard Human practice, made taken much further.

Average Technological Level

Faun, mainly being in a village setting, have very little advancements in the way of technology, still relatively primitive in what they use or even need as most of their life relies on living off of the lands around them. With that said, they are experts in their knowledge of Alchemy and experts in crafting musical instruments, rivled by the Satyrs, but very few others.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

While it's believed that Fauns once had a language unique to them, it has long since become obsolete. Since Faun villages are usually close in proximity to Satyr clans, they will most commonly be found speaking the Satyric dialect of that particular clan. Otherwise, Faun's commonly speak in Sylvan .

Common Dress Code

Fauns are notoriously known to avoid wearing anything at all if they can get away with it. If they can't they wear very common clothes, pants and tunic and nothing more, unless the circumstances require them to wear something specific - which they usually will, albeit begrudgingly.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Fauns are one of the most accepting of other races, reveling in the opportunity to get to know an outsider by culture, and on a more personal level. They hold no delusion of superiority and no cultural restrictions on befriending or even courting those of other races.
