Demon
Demons are the inhabitants of the plane of Hell. Rather than being any one kind of creature, the term "Demon" refers to any of the beings the spawn in the abysmal realm. In total, there are four classifications of Demon divided by way of "classes" based on power, ability, or nature; the lower number class being the more powerful.
4th class Demon: These are the smaller creatures of Hell; the Khorat or Imp being examples of such Demons. The most powerful being the Hellhound.
3rd class Demon: These are the more intelligant, devious, and/or frightening demons. Incubus and Succubus are common examples of 3rd class Demons.
2nd class Demons: These Demons are concidered by many to be the most terrifying. While not the most powerful, these Demons are almost always extremely volatile in nature - having the tendency to rip apart any that dare to make their presence known to the creature. 2nd class Demons, more commonly refered to as Abyssal Demons, are different from each other on an individual basis, so no particular creature type can be given as an example. Individually, Cornax and Gonax are examples of 4th class Demons.
1st class Demons: These are the most powerful, troublsome, and catastrophic beings of the plane of Hell. These beings are so unpredictable in their nature that they must be documented on an individual basis, much like 2nd class Demons. However, these Demons hold within themselves such immense power that are on-par with the very gods. Those who practice Demonology think of this class of Demons as the deities of the Demon world. The two Demons on the top of the ladder of power, whom constantly war for top spot, are Gatharoz and Azuul'daal. Unlike the other Demon Classes, 1st class Demons are bound to magic that calls to them from even great distances. If a mortal were to perform a specific ritual (varrying between the different Demons), they could potentially summon the Demon - this process is in no way guaranteed to be safe for the mortal. Exceptionally powerful Demons have learned to be able to ignore the summons, though they will still know that an attempt has been made.
