Taurina, The Forth
Taurina, The Fourth is the northmost Duchy of The Dawn Empire and formerly part of Lor Anoch.
The Duchy was conquered after The Elven Exodus, Ennius Juliant II invaded the lands and offered peace to the elves still living in the former capital. Imperial forces were then moved in and a new Ducal family declared. Ellyn Caiyra had been a minor noble among the Elves who stayed behind and welcomed Ennius II. For this alliance she was given Milandir, the former capital, as her seat of power.
Taurina has continued on as part of the empire ever since, it's citizens primarily Half-elven due to the mixing of the two cultures.
Many in Taurina know nothing but the Empire, there are no elves living that remember when it was a part of Lor Anoch. In fact one of The Five Forts, the ancient castles built to protect the border between the two previously warring nations. The half-elves of Taurina man this fort as the humans of Cosa do, not caring that it may be cousins on the over side, especially since it is peace time between the nations.
It could be argued that Taurina's loss of Elven culture is something to be mourned, but the elves that stayed during the Exodus stayed for a reason, many had been unhappy with the ruling House of Anochia, and wanted to see how The Juliant Dynasty would treat them.
Taurina represents the first major battle and victory the Dawn Empire ever fought, and as such remains a proud part of the ever expanding nation.
The Taurinan Crest is four segments seperated by a silver cross housing a sword, a bow, a fortress, and a forest each on a field of sky blue.
