Session 44: When Last We Met - 7.23.23
General Summary
When Last we met,
Vandread lay dead on the floor of the City council building. His own mind filled with visions of Ravens and darkness.
Meanwhile Attempts were made to try and heal him or bring him back.
Tensi remembers the Rod of Resurrection given to her in the Feywild and she goes to work on working its magic on Vandread. With the rod along with pleas to various unseen forces, Vandread's spirit returns from beyond and is once again among the living. Eammon confronts the party with a realization that Vaarn may have been a Lich. And that thanks to a Lich's soul being separate from its body, He was guaranteed to return. As calmness settles on the city council, the delegates return to the chamber and are met with bargaining and propositioning by the party. To clean their innocence and expunge any wrong doings they may have on record. To which the city council agree they will pull some strings for the sake of the party Once this mess is dealt with. The sounds of chaos and combat drew the party out of the Civic building. where they encountered a strange creature attacking Trout in River. They destroyed it in a toxic burst of blood and sinew. The party found the city of Mount Cashell in utter pandemonium as a swarm of these Plague riddled Demons descended on the city at the same time as Vaarn's attack on the city council. This seemingly coordinated strike has the city in chaos. Yet there is still a government in place to keep the peace, Thanks to the party.
After rescuing a knight of the Faithful Dominion from more of these Plague Demons, He informs the party that these creatures came from Melduinn and that Rosalind was on her way in pursuit of them. He suggested they regroup at the Penitent scholar. The party fought through waves of Plague Demons heading south through the city. Just as their destination lay in sight, The Avatar -- the living embodiment of the Chained Oblivion Tharizdun blocked their path. The avatar proceeded to spill some of its blood on the ground resulting in the summoning of a demon of considerable power. One of the generals of the abyssal hordes. First seen in the fateful vision that drew them all here to this country. It Rose up to combat the party at the Avatar's behest. And that's where we'll pick up next time!
