Session 43: When Last We Met 7.17.23

General Summary

When last we met, the party made moves to infiltrate a fateful meeting of the country's leadership. Romaia, being disguised as the late Earl Sommersett, was led right in with the other feudal lords. Meanwhile Isolde, Vandread and Arcturus were led to a separate area posing as Sommersett's bodyguards. The rest used cunning, guile, and a Pass Without Trace spell to skulk their way to a side entrance to the meeting hall With Tensi and Celeste forming some sort of Turtle shell maneuver up on the ceiling. 
With all cliff babies in place, The lords are led into the hall and the meeting begins. The speaker/secretary, Fenton Ostrum begins the meeting welcoming all the delegates and begins talks to broker peace and an alliance with the Elder Isle. To which the diplomat from the EI, Lorenzo Wilkinson admits that they are open to this course of action, however they are apprehensive given the fractured state of Auldsod, being a mere group of unattached fiefdoms. Ostrum then calls for a vote to establish a centralized government in the country. His proposal is met with nearly unanimous agreement. All but one. 
Vaarn, a lord from Ailec speaks up and gives a rousing speech which all but confirms his involvement with Tharizdun. As he vows to destroy each of the leaders in that room, combat erupts. Vaarn, along with two underlings bring war upon the peace summit.  The party is able to draw Vaarn's attacks away from the innocent delegates, allowing them a chance to escape. With their fight focused solely on the seeming mastermind of this whole ordeal, They deal blows with both weapon and spell. Each hit seeming to peel away his skin and along with it, any veneer of humanity he had left. 
As one final act of superiority, he casts a high level spell that instantly kills Vandread, who had been at the forefront drawing his ire with his spear. As he falls to the ground, Isolde channels her grief into an amplified magic missile that seemed to disintigrate Vaarn before their eyes. Quiet returns to the chamber, along with the realization that one of their comrades has fallen.

Proposed a unified government to bring Auldsod out of the age of Feudalism. It was mostly well received. 
Lorenzo Wilkinson - Duke of the Elder Isle. Present in the stead of the King of the Elder Isle. Open to negotiating an alliance with Auldsod 
Vaarn - A lord of Auldsod. Revealed to be a servant of Tharizdun. Also the one who attacked the party in the Feywild. Could he also be the "V" signature on the assassin's note found many many sessions ago?
Various Members of the City Council - In attendance for the meeting. They got out safely thanks to the intervention of the party.
