Session 38 - When Last We met 6/5/23
General Summary
When last we met, the party had fought their way through the secret mines of Melduinn only to find their new foe, Earl Sommerset was lying in wait for them just outside. The party decides to split for a time allowing half of their members to get captured and go quietly while the other half stays behind and tries to follow along.
Tensi, Vandread, Isolde, and Arcturus go out and face the throng of armed soldiers and after a brief exchange with the particularly pompous General, They are manacled and ushered off to the Capital via a prison transport. As they are lead away, Earl Sommerset telepathically mocks them and tells them that Victoria will be sacrificed next to the god he worships, Confirmed to be none other than Tharizdun.
Romaia, Celeste, and Trout stay back in the mine while Mistral trails the prison convoy in his mist form for a brief time before returning.
The 4 of them, knowing the heading of their compatriots, decide to trail them. They make it to Mount Cashell and, surmising their friends are locked up in the City jail, decide to ask Rosalind for assistance or guidance.
Coming to the Penitent Scholar after dark. They relay that Earl Sommersett is indeed in league with Tharizdun and ask her to try and get to Melduinn to rescue Victoria. Rosalind agrees and rallies a few of her soldiers to assist. She informs the party that Sommerset and the other Lords of the country are due in the city within 3 days time for some big meeting of the minds with the Elder Isle. She laments she can't do much for her friends in jail but wishes them luck and success.
From there, Mistral makes contact with Stephen, their mysterious vampire child. Mistral strikes a bargain with him that if he can get them into the jail, there will be much juice given to him as a reward. Stephen agrees and gets them over to the jail. They make their way up to the roof of the city jail. Mistral by way of Stephen, Romaia by way of Mistral's levitate spell, and Celeste the old fashioned way.
Atop the jail, the trio spend a few moments trying to figure out the best way into the jail. given they can't all just squeeze through a barred window. In that time, another person makes his presence known. They recognize the bard they last encountered holding a rapier into Mistral's back. He too is on his way inside the prison to rescue some friends of his own. The 4 come to an agreement to help one another out. The bard teleports them all into the prison as easy as breathing.
Once inside they find the cell where their compatriots are being held. The guard keeping watch is dispatched with a quick sleep spell. The cliff babies reunite and are met with Stephen as well as their mysterious cell mates, whom the Bard was there to free. With their cell door opened thanks to a knock spell, the only thing left now is to get their things and get out of there. No sweat.
