Session 35: When Last We Met 5/15/23
General Summary
When last we met, The party found themselves in a sticky predicament. Sealed in a chamber with the briny water of the Merchant's Sea pouring in over their heads, they had to think fast on what to do. Not able to find another exit, Tensi, Isolde, and Vandread set to task of clearing the rubble from the doorway as quickly as they can. With a bit of teamwork, they manage to make a hole big enough to fit through and they tear through the dead halls back to the open air.
Out on the cliffs, they see the night sky tainted red with clouds and the sounds of screaming coming from a nearby town. They take their rest and head toward the screams the following day. The party arrives to the Hopeful Harbor to find the village's livestock slaughtered and its townsfolk all suffering various fits of madness.
They meet an elderly man who says that something big came through the village and caused all the people to lose their minds. This man's blindness spared him from bearing witness and losing his mind himself. Tensi finds the man's son, Tim. Suffering from uncontrollable vomiting and makes sure he is well enough to look after his father and the party makes their way to the Mount Cashell to report to Lady Rosalind. They find her in the cellar of the Penitent Scholar and relay all they know to one another. Rosalind formulates a strategy with the party. She and some clerics will head to Hopeful Harbor to cure its inhabitants of their madness. Meanwhile the party will track the Avatar of Tharizdun North and make contact with Paladins in the Elder Isle. Particularly Rosalind's brother who leads a detachment of soldiers in an abbey outside of Shieldhearth. The two groups withdraw and set to their prescribed tasks. The party tries to figure out a way to track the being. Romaia pulls out her Crystal Ball of True Seeing and scries on the Avatar. Whom she finds passing outside of a village later identified as Melduinn. It does nothing as it passes but notices Romaia spying on it and manually severs her connection with it. With knowledge of where it is (or was), The party makes a day's journey north to the town of Melduinn. There they find a stranely quaint pastoral village where the populace is overly friendly at the sight of the party. They are showered with food, drink and hospitality. The party eventually meet the leader of the village. Earl Sebastian Sommerset. He greets the party with warmth and charity and asks them to stay and take supper with him. Celeste senses evil forces nearby so something seems very off about this little village and it's leader.
