Primal Ryclin

Primal ryclins - also called first ryclins, or formally distinguished by their formal study name of Ryliem Prime - are entirely natural ryclins before they started to socialize and become uplifted. While much are the changes were artificial, they are drastic enough to be entirely reclassified, and on official records the original form of the ryclin is considered extinct, even if it may potentially still exist by undocumented escapes through rifts and now live on outside the recognized OA. It is unlikely that they made it through with enough biodiversity to truly populate elsewhere, but rumors or even dramatic fears of lost ryclins devolving will persist for as long as there is more omniverse to explore.    The most distinct traits differing from the old ryclins from the modern include:
  • Primal had no teeth, only gum and flexible jaws, biologically built only for swallowing prey whole.
  • They had less fingers, and more frequently got down on their arms while still being entirely able as bipedal creatures. It is believed their arms were used more as legs due to the environment, but still operable as arms to assist with climbing or tall reaches.
  • Averaged larger sizes, between 3-4 meters in height, with slightly longer tails as well.
  • Direct response was often slower, perhaps between intellect and muscle differences.
  • Lived vastly shorter lives, with bodies that often wore out with their speedy metabolism to only endure little more than two decades.
  • Lacked as much color diversity. Most were likely pale green, to gray-blue.
  • Its possible that some had slight variations of ethnical differences, like longer necks, and differing ears, but somewhere in the evolution they were all wired to be redirected to the same basis before other modifiers were set in.

Basic Information

Dietary Needs and Habits

Ryclins always devoured prey whole, however the amount they would eat is contentious to modern rhetoric and diets. It was suspected their original large size made them more optimal to move and hold smaller prey ratios to their own bodies. Modern ryclin may eat up to their own weight in prey, roughly estimated to eat the same things as their larger elders, whereas there was little-to-no evidence of old ryclin eating so much for their size. This has made it a sometimes unusual subject to consider the terms of the modern ryclin size averages, for it was once believed they down-sized to easier navigate dense jungles, but have now disadvantaged themselves after the hunt for having to carry the same food in a smaller body. It is believed primal ryclins also saw to fruit for most fiber and even most of their hydration needs, perhaps making their old and new forms match up identical in dietary function.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Ryclins were suspected to communicate with whooping yelps, and loud guttural calls that could almost sound like a combination comparable in terran terms between dolphin signals, and cow moans. They would occasionally hunt or compete in small groups, and similar to even modern times, the mating process would involve males seeking females once they were fed often after the two had hunted together. Calls of aggression could be reduced to more suppressed growls, and hissing, but they didn't quite snarl the same way modern ryclins can with a slight reverberation in their artificially added jaw and teeth. At some point these social structures got marginally more smarter with discussing or signaling to unknown specimens entering through Kyberus rifts, and would eventually lead to some form of agreement to being artificially evolved.

Domestication

Entirely based in theories and conspiracies, but it is believed long before modern ryclins and solavores, there was an attempt by other rift exploiters to snatch and bring back the predators to be used like exotic monsters, or war beasts.
