Knumite (Noo-mite)

The Knumitian or knumites are a tigiren sect living on a large island along planet Knumaris, owning their own country region there with some co-existence with the native people. Its virtually considered they came to live on a very early period of the constellian sect, where a few actually coordinated and gathered here before finding they never really wanted to leave, and colonized a sizable portion until the government agreed to let them stay if they maintained the island well. Eventually, the island had a population boom until it was clear a large and distinct caste of tigirens were there to stay.   Tigirens of this sect tend to be laid back, and more fun-focused. They love beaches, musical arts, power-surfing, sand and wood carving, and lazy sun basking. The entertainment scene is fairly large here, and among the more serious occupations, is how they take fishing. Akin to constellians, they retain a contrast in typically being a little strong and a little soft, sometimes with individuals leaning far more one way than the other depending on whether they're toned playing out in waves or volley ball, or more like the lazy shake guzzlers and overfeasting at music parties. Yet they are some of the poorest of hunters across sects, with weak terrestrial wildlife and a lazier culture. They are most valued by other sects for what they can offer in media or as a vacation trip instead. Though Sycore has also made them more discretely popular as meat products, and has been steadily fattening and selling off the population.

Culture

Art & Architecture

Knumitians tend to more often go for a rustic approach, even if they're smart enough to use advanced machines. Wood carvings, and straw trims across houses are very common. Yards tend to have simple hemp hammocks, and its common to find large rocks used as painting canvases. In a more eccentric styling, some higher tech has gone onto "Lava sculpting", where volcanic lava is used to form specific stone art.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Cremation and burial are common, but one unique standard is also that fans of the waters specifically (be it fishing, swimming, surfing, etc) have their bodies wrapped and drowned in it, or broken down into "fish food".

Ideals

Courtship Ideals

Early in colonizing, traditional courting was an issue as females & males tend to want direct attention and pride from their partner. However given the tropical culture, and lack of foes or warrior proving potential, the land appealed more to tigresses than tigrans. A number disparity made it unsure if traditions would allow for enough new kittens to populate a full country. Yet females found they hated being alone or missing out more than they hated sharing a husband. A slow trickle between relaxation, and females competing themselves as 'rewards', began a transition into accepting casual breeding, and more notarized harems. Then the chance of extra females incentivized a few new males, and the population boomed, traditions changed to this standard for their new island home.   Males tend to court and marry a traditional first wife, but can accept more in through less conventional methods. Single females of maturity may sign up to be evaluated as potential 'prize material' to be won from sports or entertainment competitions. Others simply cut to the point of outright marketing themselves, and some others may challenge the first wife - though the first wife doesn't leave if she loses, she simply agrees they can spend time or marry in with their husband. That said, the treatment of tigresses as literal prize objects has had some sour discussion and hateful opinions go out against this sect.
