Kipp

IMPORTANT: This article features a rough synopsis of the main protagonist. As such, this is spoiler-lite territory. It will not feature any crucial or massive revelations, unless marked, but will feature various small details that take entire series of chapters and acts to develop that might otherwise come as a mild surprise in the character's arc. In saying that, there's also some subjective-to-change elements in an unlikely situation, as the story itself is still developing. Ryclins are a goofy bunch, and nobody can be too-planned for their shenanigans.

Hunter/CEO Kipp of Arbhoda

Kipp is the main protagonist to the core OA story narrative. She's a dark purple ryclin with a bright pink underbelly, and born with average traits. She eventually grows to the height of 2.3 meters. She's born in the smaller Kyberus town of Arbhoda, between her father Pattr, and her mother Mazien. At age five, she aspires to see the endless ideas of worlds, and to help different situations out, while learning and observing new things. However, she is pressured by those around her to either take up the more vicious task of a Solavore and aspire to be like her uncle, or suggested to stay home and be a simple uninspired Keeper. She rejects this choice at first, wanting to do something new for her kind and travels. However early introduction to hunting live meals, quickly proves to Kipp she's both good at such sport, but also adores it and gets steadily addicted to eating. When Agent McGywer offers her a security contract role to assist on Dustin, with freedom to go freelance-solavore on break jobs, Kipp gives in to the pressure and becomes a hunter that ends up calling herself Briar-Rose. After such a phase comes to an end, she becomes the CEO of a smaller entity she calls Drifter Services or Drifter Co - with smaller 'branching' names to some functions, like Drifter Mail for courier based efforts.   She has friendly childhood ties with two other ryclin by the names of Orkayl, and Gessie; each tend to stick close by her, and try to assist in making her goals come true. She's also associated with the less enthusiastic fellows of a personal AI called Albert that got mistakenly assigned to a ryclin, while programmed for human conditioning, as well as her prude human professor called Cassius. Regarding her family, she has the best attachment to her (sometimes absent-minded) father, Pattr. Yet, she understands somewhere under her mother's more cold gestures and scolding, she's always done more to hope that Kipp succeeds as a ryclin, even if she'd rather break traditions. Her uncle Uxeem is left as an awkward outer entity, which has plagued her with a 'cursed' ambition, but only shows gifts and family friendship when they speak. Between a stranger extended cast, Kipp has had plenty of odd ties and associations that only get weirder on some travels. Yet she always holds an optimistic tone to fresh strangers, and has room for friends, and just as much room in her stomach for when things don't go well.

Rough Timeline of Events...

Act 1 - Young Kipp

Young Kipp can be summarized as Kipp roughly when she lives with childhood friends along Kyberus. The majority of adventures occur after this place in the plot, though she does run into mischief between her first hunt in class, witnessing a rift monster anomaly, her first trip to Dustin, and eating until she was immobile for a grebel ambush. The only known extended events within this timeframe, involve small comments relating to a Holosphere event, and an intro in the applicable written short.

Act 2 - Briar-Rose

Kipp has started life on Dustin as a Solavore / Ryclin Bounty Hunter. This plotline sets place between roughly her years of 8-10. She lives on Dustin, with a small time gap passage. She works security at home, and travels frequently afar to wander and eat or fight strange threats. The act is named after a state of alias, where new-friend Redd believe her initial pearl pink armor deserved to be associated with a more menacing reputation. During the first half of this act, Kipp leads adventures brave, daring, and hungry. She's taken to a vicious persona meant to serve the job and eat, or kill, often saving the friendly face for home between smaller conversation, or occasional friend meets. However in the second half, she's coming into problems, getting fattened out of her suit fit, and later into hop-decay, where she scrambled to stay relevant while slowly considering her failed circumstances. She passes through her Dustin security contract, and decides to go back where she started, searching for renewal at her home Kyberus.   Probable events occurring include...
  • Serving a terrifying alien empire without knowing it.

  • Overthrowing a conspiracy of Ho'naht political gang interference.

  • The starting discovery of K'siivakian influence.

  • Rain Rule: Kipp finds a strange world, where a branch of ryclin fled. They serve corrupt lives, but indulge in a sense of joy, and Kipp is confused and enamored alike with a strange dystopian twist.

  • Security issues at home reach their peak, and Kipp is trying to put a stop to a rogue conspiracy.

  • Takes a mission from an odd insectoid race, where she's oddly encouraged to eat their larva. She soon finds there's more of a catch to their life cycle & metamorphisis, and they never expected her to come out alive and be paid.

  • Meeting Syrax: Contacted to assist a strange client, she helps fend off an ambush, and earns his favor and help. He gives her tools to keep going with her new disability of hop-decay, but as she hunts for him she learns to detest a sense of dependency, and fears even worse when she sees what he does with most ryclin.

  • Kipp returns home, and finds her parents divided. She eventually turns to Valdeen, where Pattr fled to reforge his own destiny.

  • Vyras' Voice: Kipp finds a group she starts to worry of. Tampering, and meddling, they wish to destroy all creation, and Kipp marks this incident as the one to be wary of the Vyras cultists from her own planet.

  • Isheev Issues: Kipp is confused with another ryclin in a strange plot of Syrax hijinks. She works with Neo-human Sterletta of another world to be protected and guarded from the mad-man's bargains. However it turns out that there was the wrong ryclin taken into account.

  • Lost in Lemoria: Kipp joins a Vahamin research team in the Kyberus jungle, that is recreating a trip into a most unusual world and dimension. She tries to endure and help them log the insanity of Lemoria.

  • Let me Drift Away: Kipp finishes her work, and gets back in shape. She vows to go forward making harder strides to advertise a different kind of ryclin agent, and with her friends on board, Drifter Services is now formed.

Act 3 & beyond - Drifter Co.

Now that Kipp has gotten back to her original priorities, she's trying to endure new struggles as a ryclin with a seldom seen form of company and assistance. A solavore's call is never far behind, but Kipp steadily makes progress alongside her friends to prop up a more complex company. This act doesn't necessarily have a solid defined ending yet, and is rather where Kipp goes at some of her better adventuring moments and developments.   Probable events include...
  • The 'prologue' scene, where Kipp is delivering a Ho'naht family package blocked by odd regulatory disputes between Qorraxen, and M'nyulis. Gets enticed to a sudden dinner plan when it turns out the receiver was under threat of a cartel's hitman.

  • World War Zeane: Kipp is informed that a powerful race known as Zeanites is going to strike harm on the universe, planning to assault Kyberus first. Kipp is given instructions on how to face their leader, unknowingly wandering into a trap with a small team that isn't prepared.

  • VDD: Kipp is thrown into an altered world where the troubling faction of Riffarians are having their own civil disputes, and eggs were stolen to foster in a rival military division. Kipp has the instructions to stealthily retrieve the egg, but when entry goes loud, and issues arise, she makes quick allies with Zarkovian connectees in order to save herself and get the egg where it needs to be, only to find trace hints of a larger problem with the very nature of this alternative realm's existence...

  • The Crossover Games: Kipp is captured alongside a crew of others, with some semblance of familiarity floating about, all directed by a nefarious form of Syrax that will have them compete for amusement in a strange omniversal-reaching arena game.

  • Kipp Clause: In a world that revels in Christmas for morale upstanding, it would miss a night if not for the Drifter gang and some outside help with Zeane. Kipp herself dawns the garb of Santa, happy to represent the spirit, and happier to find the excuse for eating into the stomach she's wanted. Kipp & Zeane help work through an unpredictable team, and a strangely festive set of standards to get through this odd scenario.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Kipp starts her early childhood like as an all-around healthy ryclin. She's excited to grow tall, mildly envious of a her friend Gessie. After her first hunt, Kipp quickly adjusts to more and often larger meals, and find she may enjoy eating too much to conflict with her young adventure ideals. At one point she's even convinced by Gessie, that she might prefer to trade her ambitions of tallness with getting fuller. She stays fit for a decent period, but her better judgement has been steadily eroded.   As Kipp adjusts to a moving and quickly accelerating life, she's entered the solavore career in a high-demand contact region, and on the side takes up a few human junkfood pleasures introduced by her other friend Orkayl. Between feasting on assignments that pour in from the under-served Dustin area, and indulging in some liquid snacks, she successfully breaks above a two-meter tall milestone, but begins quickly gaining excess weight. Kipp eventually hits the blunt problem of hop decay. She adjusts her life to get back on track, taking a more stable diet, and trying to sell her services to jobs where she doesn't need to devour large meals, eventually situation herself more to her original vision to transport and more socially travel. Her condition manages to go away without needing any extreme solutions to reconfigure the damaged muscles. A lean ryclin once more, Kipp learns to be more careful and thoughtful. However she still tends to plan with her stomach, and has moments of snapping or even relapsing the old issue for short periods.

Mental characteristics

Education

She was taught her basic education through her human mentor, Cassius Ludalph. Not too long after her first hunting lesson, she was taught some about her occupation through her uncle, Uxeem. Further education, including teleport networking, was endured through trial and efforts along her career.

Employment

  • Served as a contracted solavore for several years under Orbital Archipelago Civil Defenses, Agent McGwyer
  • Freelancer Solavore.
  • CEO of Drifter Services.

Personality Characteristics

Virtues & Personality perks

  • Optimistic, and friendly whenever she's not forced to be defensive. Even quite forgiving to those she hasn't always approached as kindly.

  • Opportunistic, and willing to seize and initiate on deals where her friends would stagger timidly.

  • Infinitely curious about other cultures, and never desires to leave them in harm, but also won't work too self-destructively just to interfere with a natural issue.

  • Is willing to investigate and shut down bad doings in her own native system, willing to step up to vigilante needs against issues like Vyras.

Vices & Personality flaws

  • Overly sensitive about some semantics, including her own color.

  • Is slow to adapt with certain technologies, and sometimes depends more on allies or self-worked computing.

  • Can sometimes react a bit immaturely, always too curious, and a little resilient to elder advice when determined. Can quickly go from spunky to rude, might occasionally talk or mock prey through her belly, or gets easily distracted with gimmicks or trinkets.

  • A victim to confirmation bias, and tends to make up excuses just to feel "in the right".

  • Develops a strong craving and appetite, a little further and more gluttonous than some ryclin. Given the mood and confession, she'll eat for the pure greed or misconstrued 'accomplishment' of it, eventually even outspokenly pining to gain weight on more relaxed circumstances - and will inevitably complain about it when she needs her agility once more for the majority of her work.

Social

Religious Views

Kipp faintly dabbles in ideas of Metavoxianism, but never seriously commits to it. She shows a fondness of it more for the sake and compassion of her father, who begins his own transformation into the career of a Bio-coder monk, while she's doing her Solavore/Drifter life. She chooses to mostly not believe in much of a higher power, seeing so many others come up with odd fables that can be explained, and yet not convinced that things would all be technical enough to justify the coder monk idealism either. Still, she's always humoring the potentials with some agnostic values.
