Dustin

Dustin is among one of several planetary locations vulnerable to rift tears, and is among the first places once colonized by ryclin explorers. It has since fallen more to control of a form of foreign human drifters that have become known collectively by others as Rust Goths or Gearmen  for their drab industrial wear.   Dustin is a mutated and polluted world that has fallen into a condition of heavy rainfall that can accelerate in storms to be more aptly compared to small bursts of river currents. Large sinkholes and corrosive pits often drain some of the water, but a significant portion of the natural land is buried under a thick bog-like covering of sparse vegetation and wide spans of shallow waters. Ghost towns and old industrial ruins have become almost engrained as a normal form of the environment, thought to come mostly from Ryclin experiments, foreign technologies, and a small imprint of Vyllk and Ho'naht visitors that were once working more commonly with Ryclin. Meanwhile most of the dominant Gearmen forces actually live on elevated platform cities with lifts that descend down. A few are even built above the 'first-layer' of rain clouds and stay more dry.   Dustin on the whole is a smaller humid planet with some rare but striking fluctuations of cold. The skies are almost always covered in dark clouds, often classified by layers with a true clear sky actually being a strange phenomenon that brings together some attention and superstitious omens. Most of the wildlife either flies or swims, and is often comprised of semi-aquatic predators, or large insects.

History

Ryclins are believed to be the first intelligent race to make a strong presence on the land. They once named it Zysaphar, and still occasionally refer to it as such even in modern contexts. During the Zysapharian time period, they still struggled to understand some aspects of appliance and technology, and experimented rapidly with many different devices, foreign items, and were still tweaking some elements of their own bodies and genetic structure. Vyllk and Ho'naht species were also more prominent in assistance, trade, and their own curiosities, and seemed to share in agreements similar to what would later come between Ryclin and Vahamin.   Over time though ryclins grew dissatisfied with many different technologies, or had various failures, and left a vast number of their cities and towns behind, and some small pockets of the ecosystem devastated from their work or consumption. After some batteries and cells decayed and wore down, this started to bleed into further natural areas, and slowly degrade the planet over years. By the period of meeting Vahamins, ryclins were covering up or shy about their studies on the planet. Similar guests weren't around as much to contend or save the planet, with many Ho'naht returning to their native place for internal struggles, and many of the Vyllk actually devoured by ryclins in a surprisingly care-free nature. Vahamins excluded the other two races from discussions, and negotiated with the ryclins on aspects, but only truly got involved with Zysaphar when another human race started to appear...   At some point early in the official OA bureaucratic formation, they found Dustin was once more visited by victims of stronger tear. The place had since already began to degrade and wear, but the human race was productive and working away to set up quick factories, metal works, and medical facilities. After a while those humans grew to depend on the planet's unusual conditions, and build upon it, but were always seen in strange masks and suits, or were sickly dying. As their needs and populations returned to a survivable amount, it was clear "Dustin" - as they called it for the drab ruins - was going to be their home for some time. The vahamins and ryclin agreed to let them in on their governmental operations, though between the three there was a struggle to understand what each other could want or do with the planet. Even to the current day, Dustin is a politically confused place, and a harsh land to anyone not experienced with it.
