Singing (Demon Empire)

"When we sing, we sing seriously, to accomplish something." A Demon musician about singing within the Empire
Most of the singing is a simple game of rhyming with very open rules which allows any fair-throated Imperial to create a popular tune. There are four main occasions where Imperials may sing a song. When lulling children to sleep, when partaking in a feast, as singers during a play, and finally when marching to battle. Outside those occasions it is rare to hear a song in the streets, as mendicants and artist do not perform in public most of the time.

History

Many poets and artists First Sent didn't let their new bodies damage their inspirations, quite the contrary if historians are to be believed. Many songs survived to this day, at first orally then transcribed onto papyruses as the civilisation adapted to Orbido. Songs to raise moral and were common occurence and. However, as time went on, monsters grew rampant, and the very militaristic Demon Empire rose to power, singing became more professionnel and utilitarian in nature. Nowadays there are no laws against ripping out eardrums in the streets, but Demons as a culture keep the notes for special occasions.
