Ebony

"The look, the touch, the smell... aaah. Who doesn't love Ebony?"

Dense black hardwood extracted from trees such as the Apospyre. Resilient and beautiful after some polishing. It is used for producing luxury items of many kinds and is even used as component for special issue weapons.

Material Characteristics

Very uniform once treated the grain is very even, almost impercptible. Usually straight but can also be interlocked. Black mat before polishing, the finshed product doesn't require any lacquer.

History & Usage

History

Ebony's history is Demon history. The oldest records dating to the first sending suggest that the trees were immediately noticed and exploited despite the apparent unnecessary aspect for a people plunged into the deep end. Its beauty and mystery still had an impact on the collective psyche and helped cement the communities, allowing arts and trade to flourish in spite of the dangers of the Steppes.
