Zariel

Zariel is an Archdevil who rules Avernus, the first of the Nine Hells. She is a devious and brutal warlord, focused on conquest over the Demons in the Blood Wars above all other goals.
Zariel appears as a general in black platemail, with cloak and wings of ever-burning fire. Her horns spring from a face and head that seem to be half-helmeted, though it has full range of expression and motion. Her cloven hooves make the sound of heavy metal boots as they cross the rocky expanses of Avernus.
Though the first level of the Hells is typically home to mortal souls who were morally grey or only incidentally evil in life, Zariel endlessly and ruthlessly cajoles her minions into recruiting them for the Blood Wars. When these former mortals who agree to fight for her face the battlefield, they find themselves transformed forever into fiends, if they do not die immediately upon clashing with the demon armies. Zariel also bargains whenever she can with mortals who are skilled warriors, promising them incredible strength and rare infernal weapons in exchange for an eventual claim on their souls. However, she never seeks to claim the warriors that enter pacts with her before their time; to Zariel, every scrap of life and battle experience in the Material Plane serves a purpose in honing their skills for their eventual positions on the front lines of the Blood Wars.
