Storm Giant

Storm giants are a type of giant with particularly strong connections to weather magic, similar to that of a storm-aligned sorcerer. Rather than being a rare trait passed through one specific lineage, however, the lightning magic of a storm giant is innate among the entire species.   Storm giants most frequently live within the peaks and clouds of the Blue Mountains or the depths of the Saunfinia Sea, existing in solitary contemplation away from mortal and immortal meddlings alike. The average storm giant lives half a millennium or more—plenty of time to contemplate the seasons, the stars, and the world around the two, absent of meddling from forces more (or less) powerful than its own.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Storm giants largely live in solitary, monk-like isolation. Some meet on occasions determined by the season and the zodiac to discuss the conditions of the mortal realms and the worship of their patron gods (if any on these occasions, two storm giants may agree to mate and produce offspring. These offspring are raised alone by their mothers and abandoned on mountaintops once weaned.

Civilization and Culture

Common Myths and Legends

Religion among storm giants is rare and varies wildly. The most common sect is the storm giants who consider themselves children of Odin or Thor, long-lost members of the Erden Dynasty waiting for their divinity to come into full fruition. Smaller, but still significant, sects exist dedicated to Boréas of the winter storm and Notus of the summer storm. These two factions clash endlessly in the mountains, particularly during the gales of November and March. The third god of the wind triplets of the Olympian Dynasty, Zephýros, is almost universally ignored by storm-giantkin.   On the other hand, some particularly large and prominent storm giants of Draxhaven are worshipped by nearby villages. The giants regard these with detached bemusement, though they sometimes grant favors to their most fervent priests.
