Scrying

Scrying is a spell used primarily by Diviners to watch the activity of a person from afar, typically without their knowledge. The spell is not limited to wizards; most advanced practitioners of magic are theoretically able to cast it, though it is a difficult spell to maintain in practice due to the amount of focus involved.   When Scrying is cast, divinitive spirits attempt to connect the caster with the aura of a specific target, which may be a person or location on the same plane of existence as the caster. A creature with strong willpower might innately resist the spell, causing it to fail immediately. If it does connect, however, the caster is able to see and hear the activity of the target as if they were within 5 to 10 feet of them. The caster may choose to keep this vision to themselves, or to make it visible and audible to anyone near their scrying focus, in a radius of up to 30 feet.   Scrying is one of the few spells in the current era that still requires a specific component, rather than a generic arcane focus. This is because the image of the spell needs to be projected on a reflective surface. Crystal balls and mirrors are the most common objects used for these; a Druid or a Cleric, for example, might instead use a font of holy water, a well, or a still pond.   Scrying is more likely to be effective the better the caster knows the target. It is difficult to scry on strangers, and much easier to connect with close acquaintances (or frequent enemies) using the spell. The likeness, possession, or body part of a target can also help in establishing the connection. Some dedicated diviners keep secret sketchbooks to aid in their scrying.

Casting Time 10 minutes
Range Self
Duration Concentration, Concentration, up to 10 minutes
Components V, S, M
Materials A focus worth at least 1,000 gp, such as a crystal ball, a silver mirror, or a font filled with holy water

You can see and hear a particular creature you choose that is on the same plane of existence as you. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw, which is modified by how well you know the target and the sort of physical connection you have to it. If a target knows you're casting this spell, it can fail the saving throw voluntarily if it wants to be observed.
On a successful save, the target isn't affected, and you can't use this spell against it again for 24 hours.
On a failed save, the spell creates an invisible sensor within 10 feet of the target. You can see and hear through the sensor as if you were there. The sensor moves with the target, remaining within 10 feet of it for the duration. A creature that can see invisible objects sees the sensor as a luminous orb about the size of your fist.
Instead of targeting a creature, you can choose a location you have seen before as the target of this spell. When you do, the sensor appears at that location and doesn't move.
