Maiere
Maiere, Mother of Spiders is a minor deity of the Wild Dynasty. She is a lawful neutral goddess of pattern and order, most heavily associated with spiders and textile crafts. She is the patron goddess of Nolber and the Circle of Weavers.
According to legend, she is a daughter of Morigana, plucked from the threads of fate the goddess saw stretching over time and space. However, her worshippers more frequently align themselves with Danuvians in both practice and belief. Several Danuvian legends describe Danu as a mentor and friend to Maiere. In these tales, Morigana leaves Maiere without guidance after her creation, frustrating the goddess. Danu finds Maiere alone and distraught, and brings her another creature yet to find its purpose: the spider, who had not yet learned to weave. Maiere gave the spider its silk and its ability to create patterns, and found her purpose as a goddess in guiding these creatures in their craft.
Through this paradigm, Maiere is often also associated with any insect that builds structures (such as caterpillars, ants, and termites), as well as uncharismatic but ecologically necessary creatures in general. This association sometimes extends to Humanoid workers assigned to thankless tasks. A common prayer among textile workers, for instance, asks for "the hand of the spider and the patience of Maiere to guide it."
