Philosophies of Worship

On the purpose of life: Elves have the gift of time, and what we do with this time is of utmost importance. We must use this time to honor Mother Danu and all life; we are the gods’ memory-keepers on the Material Plane. We should seek to grow for our entire lives, as the trees do. For the mountains of knowledge stretch on forever; one cannot climb a single peak and claim to have climbed them all.   On the nature of truth: All that is true has already been sown. Hide it or recognize it as you wish-- what grows cannot be ungrown. What has sprouted is what is there to be witnessed; we cannot sit in the shade of the trees that never grew. We can always endure the truth, for we are already living with it.   On vice: Pride and vanity are ephemeral pursuits, chased only by the weak and unfulfilled. To focus on the greater, you must detach yourself from the material. Keep one’s reputation and honor unsullied via the purity of your own actions-- not by vengeance against those who seek to sully it for their own purposes.   On relationships: A holy person must display chastity of mind and body, and respect for your fellow journeymen on Mother Danu’s path. Cultivate your attachments as you would a garden. Even a single unwanted seed, if allowed to take root, may sap the strength from the intentions of those around it. Let go of toxic relationships; hold no grudges; do not covet possessions or prestige.   On martial practice: Ki is the energy that flows and binds all living things. Ki tunes our spirits to the resonance of the universe. The warrior monk learns to harness its power, instead of the arcane. It binds all living things together on a deeper level than even holy magic can. Intention of mind leads to intention of the motion. A warrior must conserve their energy and clear their mind to harness their ki and deliver the most effective blows.
