Dragon Turtle

A dragon turtle is a relative of the Dragon that lives deep within the oceans of the world. They have the same body structure as ordinary sea turtles, including four flippers and enormous shells, but similar body size, intelligence, lifespan, and innate magical abilities as true dragons. Their breath weapon is a wide spray of blistering steam that can cause third-degree burns upon direct contact. Dragon turtles are thought to feed on smaller sea creatures, such as whales, sharks, seals, and sahuagins. However, some legends tell of them capsizing ships and eating their crew and cargo.
The origins of the dragon turtle are shrouded in extreme mystery. Some believe the dragon turtles are the children of some banished, long-forgotten Titan who shares their form and was banished to wander the Material Plane. Others believe they are a type of elder Elemental from the Elemental Plane of Water, and that the fabled moving islands of the plane are, in fact, dragon turtles that have grown to befriend the marids of the plane. The legends of moving isles in the seas near Chorr'zya, in the extreme southern Aquatic Kingdoms, may also be related to ancient dragon turtle hunting grounds. Few known explorers have ever seen a fully grown dragon turtle in person. Most reports of dragon turtle sightings have been made by sailors who have crossed the Saunfinia Sea and sailed to the Mystic Lands.
