My Offerings to the WAWA 2024
Oh boy it's that time of year again
It is time once again, awards season is upon us, and I have here a collection of works that I think are good. Maybe even pretty good. I think I absolutely cooked last year, actually. And some of these suggestions will probably continue to be my favorite works for a long time. So I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Best Article
This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The original article may have gotten nominated in 2021 but it PALES in comparison to what I've written during WorldEmber. This work will probably be my magnum opus for a long time and serves as a testament to how much progress I've made in both my art and my writing. Just the culmination of like everything I'm passionate about wrapped up in a perfectly impractical and purely cosmetic suit of armor. In short, I fucking cooked. Here's to hoping it goes the distance!
Best World
Okay so funny story, this was submitted to both world categories but by random chance it ended up in Best World in general. If it was up to me I absolutely would've picked Most Beautiful cause I actually have a shot in that one, y'know, cause of the whole "artist" thing fhbsdvkbsdf. But WHO KNOWS. Maybe other people will decide I really do be cooking here!
Best Newcomer
I'm not a newcomer lol this is just a bit
Heart & Minds
Anyone who has been stumbling upon and observing my work for some time know that Valkyr had been a long time coming, and what I ended up cooking, I feel, is FANTASTIC. I love these guys. An entire people hellbent on not just surviving, but thriving in a land never meant for life through their heart, soul, and community. I can think of no better accomplishment.
Pillars of Progress
Elves are by far one of my favorite developments when it comes to how Oniran evolved over time. Just a mashup of some of my absolute favorite aspects of fantasy in a way that just feels like me. In this world, Elves are progress. They were the first ancestry to call it home, the first to develop a method of harnessing magic, and their culture is a constrantly progressing mishmash of whatever ideals and taboos they feel like adhering to at any given time. Elves are chaotic and constantly moving forward.
Wondrous Nature
I had a hard time deciding between this or Goblins & Trolls, but in the end I decided this had more going for it. This is such a wholesome article in a sea of what is arguably pretty violent if we're being honest. What started as a simple "Here's some info about Bees" turned into a Field Guide on the profession of Bee Ranching, and I love it. And the art also goes hard in my opinion. Don't let the banner fool you, Strawberry just looks like a flower to them, as do most Knights for that matter.
So that's about it. I hope y'all enjoy my works as much as I do! And I'm wishing luck to everyone else who submitted as well!!!
