Fangs

The Fangs was a stronghold in western Vhakizla. Constructed on the slopes of Mount Zyraxes, it overlooked the city of Vhak and served as the seat for the necrostate's undead ruler.

Geography

Named for its twin towers that spiked the sky, the Fangs loomed over Vhak and all Vhakizla beyond. Made in the Thanasian style, they were harsh, brutalist structures, whose make was unlike anything on Sapphros when they were constructed. A matching pair of waterfalls once fell from the rock at the castle's foundation but both cascades fell beneath Caliphar II's power before construction began. The main hall, once a grand foyer, was converted into Vhakizla's audience chamber, as it was the only chamber within large enough to accommodate her size.

History

Second Age

Upon conquering Vhak and sealing his victory over Vhakizla, Caliphar II sought a new palace from which to reign over his people. Fearful of invasion from all corners, he commissioned a great redoubt, high on the mountainside, from which he could survey the surround. Construction on the castle began in 4 2A and took over a decade. In 16 2A, it was completed but, by then, the vampire overlord was accustomed to frequent visits to Izla and rarely visited his mountain fastness.
When Vhakizla returned inn 25 2A, however, she fell upon the fortress with rage. Assaulting the tower where the vampire made his abode, she smashed his sarcophagus and quickly took control of Vhak's garrisons. Following Caliphar II's defeat, Vhakizla ordered the Fangs rebuilt and improved, making them her new royal palace in 38 2A.

• Vhakizla: Summoned before their new patroness, the Menagerie met Vhakizla, the Wyrm Returned, in her audience chamber in the Fangs – though the meeting did not go well. (Chapter 4)
