Tyyros

tyyros (pl)   Tyyros are half-neufiske, half-rï'im. How that came to be, no one knows for certain.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Tyyros stand on two legs which are furred from the lower waist to their knees, before hitting the bone-like skin of the leg down to the thin tip of the hoof, which is cloven in two. They have one short tail, always coloured white underneath. Up from the torso, arms come off from the shoulder, elbows down to the hips and wrists coming close to their knees. They have five fingers, two thumbs on either side and three digits in-between.   On their head they have two eyes, a nose with two nostrils, and one mouth. Their teeth are sharp in incisors, and flat in the back to grind. A tyyros' ears are long, each in two directions, with the helixes pointed back against the head (one upwards and the other down). They grow hair on their head to the tops of their shoulder blades, the same colour as the fur on their legs.   Tyyros grow two horns. The older one is, the more wild the horns splinter and longer each section becomes.

Genetics and Reproduction

Reproduction is by choice, requiring the genetic additions of at least one other individual before gestation is possible. When making the decision to reproduce, the tyyros' body shifts quickly to be able to carry a child to term, a process that takes around six months (though this depends on the nutrition of the carrying parent, it can be longer if physically unwell).

Growth Rate & Stages

Tyyros are carried in the arms of a parent for the first month of their life as their shins and hooves harden appropriately. After this, they follow at their parent(s)' heels for the next couple years. During this time the tyyros grow gradually, coming to their adult height around twenty years. Their horns bud during their fifth year, and continue to grow from there.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Tyyros can eat anything and unlike one of their biologic ancestors, they continue to be able to do so throughout their entire lives. However, their teeth are not as strong as a neufiske's teeth, limiting what they can consume without external tools.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Much like the neufiske, tyyros generally have average sensory capabilities, and rely mainly upon their sight and hearing. Unlike the rï'imi, their horns do not appear to assist with their hearing as their external ears do. That is not to say that their horns do not give them extrasensory perception. The specifics of this are unknown.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Tyyros believe differently as to what their horns mean. Some believe it gives them better grasp of magic. Others think it gives them the ability to see into the afterlife. The only thing all can agree on is that none of them have managed any of their beliefs to the point where they can convince everyone else of it. Along with this is the differing beliefs of how their species came to be from neufiske and rï'imi. However, as the rï'imi do not share their reproduction method with each other, let alone other species, it might always remain a mystery.
