Prince Diagil (Die-ah-geel)
Prince Diagil is the current heir to the Albion Empire.
Early Life
Diagil is the firstborn son to Emperor Alboril X X and Empress Reyneil. His youth, like most of his life, was spent preparing to become the Emperor of Albion. However, Diagil showed little interest in government and found it to be more of a chore than anything. He would rather spend his days fencing and has become a skilled duelist. He is known as a quick learner and like many Imperials, has a thirsts for knowledge. While he considers politics a bore, he has dedicated his life to its study knowing it is his duty to become Emperor. But, he is not without controversy. Diagil earned a reputation in his early twenties for being quite promiscuous and was know to frequent the local brothels. His promiscuity continues indiscriminately.Apprenticeship
By 15, Diagil worked as his fathers apprentice. First, answering correspondents and observing advisory meetings and interactions with subjects. However, as the years progressed, Diagil took on more duties and by his late twenties, his father trusted him to stand in his stead during council or subject meetings or act as an emissary in foreign courts. Diagil is known as a skilled and versatile diplomat as he has studied or worked under every single one of his father's advisors at one point or another. At 36, Diagil is still his father's apprentice, but in practice, acts as more of an advisor. Although, recently, Diagil has taken on much of the official duties of the emperor as Alboril's health is failing.Relationships
Diagil has had many relationships over the years thus leading to his promiscuous reputation. As of this year, Prince Diagil has not chosen a partner and remains a very active bachelor therefore leaving the line of succession unclear as neither him nor his sister have continued the Line of Besk. Prince Diagil's relationship with his younger sister has been friendly at best. While they were somewhat close as children, once Diagil became his father's apprentice, things began to change. Being the eldest child, he gained more responsibilites and less freedom to choose his fututre. Princess Gwendolyna, being the second child had much more freedom to do as she liked and more room to establish herself without living life in her father's shadow. Diagil envies his sister's supposed freedom. While he applauds her accomplishments, he longs for the freedom she supposedly has. Prince Diagil has always had a good relationship with his father. He admires him and hopes to rule as succesfully. Emperor Alboril was known to set high standards for his children and Diagil has met them. Since Diagil has been his father's aprentice for the majority of his life, he is very close to his father and there is little that Alboril does not know about his son's life. Empress Reyneil is known throughout the empire as a kind and just woman. Her reputation as a giver to the people does not stop in her home. Diagil is often seen with his mother at charity events and public functions. He has often said how his father may have shaped his mind, but his mother shaped his heart.Mental characteristics
Accomplishments & Achievements
Prince Diagil's most notable domestic accomplishment is his creation of a fencing school in the capitol. The school is free to all children who are interested in learning dueling. He teaches occasional classes at the school.
His most notable diplomatic accomplishment is establishing trade relations with the Merellian. After years of negotiations and preperations, the trade route has brought significant prosperity to both countires and Prince Diagil hope it will open more doors for future negotiations with other nations across sea.
