Coridai

Coridai is one of the largest known governments of Omentibus. It has gathered much renown for its progressive peace treaties and varieties of products and entertainment. This, of course, is a much different story if you actually live in Coridai. While the Coridai a tourist may know is the gleaming upper city of noblemen and royalty, the Coridai a citizen knows is that of the grueling gray lower districts. Its tall jutting brutalist architecture goes for miles. The streets perfectly aligned in measured grids. Every creature's day on a timer; wake up, go to work, eat, sleep, breathe. All of this perfectly encased in perfectly square walls that surround the city. This desolate city of pure bureaucracy comes with a promise that if you just work hard enough you too can be like the nobles, the celebrities. A promise rarely, if ever, fulfilled.

The Districts of Coridai:

Coridai can be broken up into four central districts and the off-island upper district, while the four of the labor districts stay encased in a singular cube. Offshore access is not permitted in the three central districts without a tourism pass from the Tourism Board or signing oneself into full citizenship.     Manufacturing District: Coridai's main source of income comes from its creation of a wide variety of affordable, decently made goods. From weapons to furnishings, all of it comes from this central district of Coridai. Here you will find large factories of goblinoids slaving away over leather tools, forges. While it is also said food is produced in this district, few people have actually been to the for production factory. This district's Jarl is Eddak Nesbit.       Power District: Here you can find one of the largest generators in Omentibus. Purchased in 260 from The Dracohammer Empire , the generator siphons power from the nearby volcano to feed power into the city. However the power used seems to be only a fraction of what is siphoned, and few know where the rest of the power goes if anywhere. This district Jarl is Thurma Gin.     Media District: This is where you can find the News as well as the long production line of various books published for entertainment. Highest selling being The Daily Ordeals of Malcolm Merriweather. You can also find many plays put on here though this is a dwindling business as few citizens actually have time for plays. This district is a highly favored one, and difficult to get a job in. Most people working there were either members of media families or auditioned their way in though this is rare. And the higher-ups of this district are reportedly very well paid in comparison to the other district leaders. This district's Jarl is Vladimir Night.       The Economic District: This district is chock full of bean counters and pencil pushers. This district is responsible for keeping track of financial obligations, records, and stocks in different companies. This district's Jarl is Mordak Nesbit     Upper District: The Upper District is the pinnacle of luxury. Here you will find gaudy castles and manors of various colors. The sprawling land goes on for miles. This land has been modified and terraformed by spell casters from the lower districts. Along the beach, you will find what resembles a tropical paradise. In the mountains lies a winter wonderland. This odd collection of climates has taken its toll on the natural wildlife of course, yet no one seems to care. Plots of land belonging to the nobility of Coridai and its rulers are frequently customized and redone. Often you will find illustrious objects of pure gold and similar finery decorating the inside of the buildings. This district's Jarl is Milan Greymore.

Structure

Coridai is a capitalist oligarchy in every sense. While the political powers that be still have sway it is nothing in comparison to Coridai's noble families.

Public Agenda

Tell citizen's success beyond the city walls is possible, make them work for it and then never follow up.

Assets

Coridai is known to make all sorts of luxury items. Be it jewelry, furniture, fine meals, or books. But they also dabble on the shadier side, providing weapons to anonymous buyers.

History

Coridai was founded in the 10th by Sorokin Night, Zeda Gin, Cos Swarlock, Parlos Nesbit, and an additional unlisted member. The empire founded primarily by elves started off quite successful. The island of Helna, was rich with rare gemstones and ores. The Empire thrived for a time until the first volcano eruption. It was catastrophic, hundreds of Elves lost their lives. This island desolation caused the population to move northward to the continent of Doda. Unfortunately, the island was barren, and the same wealth achieved on Helna simply could not be achieved. As a solution, the rulers of Coridai created a task force of prisoners known as The Canaries. The Canaries would be sent to the dangerous, uninhabitable island of Coridai to harvest valuables, this proved successful, but the cost of shipping prisoners to and from the island slowly became for and more taxing. To account for this the ruler's decided to create a prison on Helna. One that could resist lava. This also proved successful, and the empire flourished. But as the war came and went and the mines grew deeper and more dangerous, the more people were needed. It was then the idea of "employing" goblinoids to work on the island was brought up and after some reluctance was eventually accepted. The prison on Helna was expanded over a period of time and eventually turned into its own city, split into separate districts, all overseen by the descendants of the ruling class. And of the elves on Doda? Well, they only grew in wealth. The isle once a barren desert now flourishes as a multi-climated paradise, due to immense magical terraforming.
