Eochaidh, The Saint of Protection ((uh-kay-id))

An excellent warrior, exemplary soldier, and powerful fey. Eochaidh is the Elvish Saint of War for a good reason. Blood has soaked his blades for hundreds of years and he has seen countless battles from his time as both a soldier and his years as a commander. When the Third Courts War broke out, something inside Eochaidh died. His will to fight for the courts had burnt out like a candle that was lit for five years. He sought to make something of himself, away from the overbearing hands and greedy eyes of the courts. He met Ardgalias, and through him met with one of the enemy. They joined together and led their people out of the Feywild and into a new realm, with Eochaidh's shield to shatter any attacks that may endanger their flock.

The Visage of the Shield

Eochaidh was born as a humble fairy. However, his physique is nothing near what you would refer to as humble. He grew into a tall and robust figure. His large and muscular frame depicted one of strength and speed. He had golden tan skin and deep black eyes with golden irises. His fair hair was cut and kept short to create a very serioues aura of professionalism. He was most often seen wearing his suit of armor, a beautifully crafted set of plate that was well maintained by the wearer and beared the coat of arms belonging to his house. His coat of arms was that of a crescent moon with two swords crossed behind it. Three stags are visible at the bottom looking up at the moon.   He was also often seen with his faithful companion, Crimsonfeather. A powerful beast known as a Torcuil that served as his trusted steed. Torcuils are large boar-like creatures with five tusks protruding from their face and a pair of wings that came out of their hips. Crimsonfeather's wings were speckled grey and white, his fur was colored like soot, and his eyes were soft amber.   After his death, he ascended to godhood in the form of one of the Tresii. He returned upon the back of his great steed wearing his suit of armor as if it had never been touched by blade or point. His eyes burned with a fierceness and the golden irises glew bright. His hair would turn to fire and he would have horns protruding from the top of his head. He would be seen charging upon his famous Torcuil, with wings of deep crimson.

The Trials of Eochaidh.

Throughout the Sylvan Exodus, he maintained his armor beautifully and with great care. However, after reaching the Mortal Realm, Eochaidh became disillusioned with his purpose and lost himself. He grew depressed, quicker to anger, and found little purpose in life. However, when his new homeland faced the might of an invading army, he returned to the service of his people. He found peace with what he had become and peace with where he had found himself, thus picking up the sword once more and using it to protect the same people he had brought with him. The invaders were crushed and he would soon marry to Tagdariel, Ardgalias would take his leave and never be seen for the rest of Eochaidh's mortal life. His armor would be destroyed during a battle with a terrifying creature known as a nuckelavee.

Divine Domains

The primary domain of Eochaidh is war. He has a vast history as a soldier and warrior, including his time as a commander during the Third Courts War. This has followed him into divinity as he is renowned as a war god for the Sylvans.   With being a deity of war, he is also the patron of archery, strategy, and protection. Archery is a treasured art among the Elves, especially in the Deepwood. Eochaidh was considered to be the greatest archer of his time, able to hit a shot at over 575 meters. His skill with weaponry is matched in turn by his tactical mind. A skilled leader and general, he has a history of being able to turn battles around in the direst of situations. He is also renowned as a brutal fighter and several records have described him as a bloodthirsty figure in combat. One of the titles he attained curing the Third Courts War is Eochaidh the Claret Hand.

Artifacts

Fadrain is an epic spear that was once wielded by the saint Eochaidh. It served as his lance during the Third Courts War and he slew many enemies from the back of Crimsonfeather wielding this powerful piece of Sylvan weaponry. A sturdy shaft carved from the tallest of the Sylvan Ironbarks and a spearhead forged from the iron that was collected from the blood of giants. This spear is immensely powerful when placed in the hands of a trained warrior. It was only seen once before in the hands of a mortal, when Eochaidh himself walked the planes as a normal elf.   Skytrife is a bow carved from the wood of the Deepwood's oldest tree.Enchanted thousands of years ago, this longbow was granted to Kirfaeth, the first champion of Eochaidh as a gift for his service. Upon his death the bow was lost along with the tomb of Kirfaeth. The bow was said to never break, and grow in size to fit the user's armlength.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Eorian Bow is the main symbol of Eochaidh. An elven recurve bow made from a red wood. The string is pulled back and an arrow is ready to fire. The limbs of the bow are adorned with two blades that curve slightly towards the sky. In the center is the ancient sylvan sigil for war. A series of seven lines that curve to form a star with many sharp points and the top three points are connected via two lines.   Another symbol of his is that of the Torcuil. A large creature, often described as boars with five tusks and a pair of wings sprouting from their sides. A torcuil known as Crimsonfeather was the famous steed of Eochaidh.

Mental characteristics

Intellectual Characteristics

Eochaidh is the most headstrong of the Elven gods. He is pompous, cocky, and brash. However, he is also honest, thoughtful, and prideful nearly to a fault.   His honesty, thoughtfulness, and loyalty to his people is what kept him in line during the Sylvan Exodus. Whenever you would nearly come to blows with Tagdariel, the reminder that his people required him always rang true in his mind. While he did not always agree with Tagdariel or Ardgalias, he always spoke his mind and was willing to cooperate for the sake of his kin. His prideful and pompous nature made him difficult to get along with, however the other members of the Exodans were not willing to go and find another defector of his skill in such a short time. However, whenever they doubted his loyalty to the cause or their decisions to bring him along, he would always come through with brawn, brains, or courage.   The owner of a violent temper, he is self-absorbed and rude at most times. However, he will always let you know how he thinks of you. When caught in a drunken stupor he has been known to kill others in brawls. He would shout at those who disagreed with him and even threaten their very lives. However, small groups who have been his closest companions can often calm him down in these situations. Tagdariel would become one of these people in their time as rulers of the Deepwood.
