Kynthorpe
A small mining town Located near the Bleakskarr Mountain; It has since had a serious drop in population due to the corruption of it's land. At it's peak the population was roughly 75,000: and on its way to becoming a city. However; the War of the darkness. and the events following Saw the town and the local geography fall into a foul Darkness. Thus as the ore vanished and the monsters picked off the unwary, most sane folk left for refuge elsewhere. Those that reamined were the most battle-hardened dwarven families; who saw great profit to be made from the discovery of Shadowsteel Veins. However they too are slowy succumbing to the corrupting influence-and in time will become Duergar.
Demographics
Largely dwarves and Earth genasi, with a few other Sapient species associated with mining and earth. Most folk are miners; and the general wealth of the town is low-significantly less than what it once was for certain. Most folk are miners or metal workers; though thanks to declining communcation and trade some have taken to every proffession required to keep the town alive.
Government
In it's prime it was governed by a council comprised of the four most influential dwarven houses. Now it is more close knit equal community, as all those that remain must rely on one another simply to survive.
Defences
The town was once defended with bulwarked walls, but frequent attacks from Heartless and other shadow beings have seen these defences crumbling and weakened. It is only a matter of time before they fail completely.
Industry & Trade
Once a hub of trade to Spirit-lake and the coastal towns; now trade is sparse. Though they get by with the trade of powerful Shadowsteel armaments sold to adventurers and collectors.
Infrastructure
It was formerly built upon the mines leading into the large mountain; and managed to survive on its bounty alone for many years. That was until the disasters that befell it. However even now, the ore within the mountain is what keeps the survivors tied to the labour of mining.
Assets
The stores have run dry in recent years, with the spry youth tasked with the gathering of supples from neighbouring towns, and the distant forests and plains. The only valueables remaining are a few gems and refined shadowsteel ingots.
Architecture
Buildings are generally quarried stone, with wooden accents and roofs. Motifs and carvings are etched into the walls. the larger homesteads are decoated with gargoyles.
Geography
The base of a mountain: the ground blackened by foul corruption. the small resevoir thankfully remains untainted, if not a little greyer than usual.
Natural Resources
Shadowsteel ore and onyx are the only things that can be found in the mines nowadays.
