The Tattan wilds
Geography
The tattan wilds lay in the very center of Kearcy; with the lacelands to the south, the great plateau and skyhaven to the north, and the atoll Natorrek to the west. It is a large forest with mixed trees; both deciduous and evergreen trees grow here. The lacelands and the great plateau are the nearest water sources, wich has as result that almost all forest dwelling creatures live near the edges. Deeper into the forest animals tend to live from fallen rain and plants that hold a lot of moisture, resulting in mainly small herbivores inhabiting the area. It is often observed that the further in you go, the denser the vegetation gets. No one has ever really visited the heart of the forest, and those who went too near often came back terrified of the eerie atmosphere and the unidentified wailing.
Ecosystem
the Tattan wilds are known for the rich selection of herbs it offers. One does not have to go far to find multiple different species of beneficial herbs, mushrooms and berries thriving in the shade of the trees. The trees themselves seem to grow larger and with denser foliage the further you enter the forest, but with the trees so do the other plants. The plants seem to feed off of the trees, and nobody knows how the bigger trees manage to grow as big with more plants sapping their resources. Many animals have made their homes in the trees and between the underbrush, with some larger herd animals living near the edges. Various species of insects live on and in the soil to turn the excrements of the various herbivores living in the forest into fertilizer for the plants, and are very sufficient in doing so. It is said that when something dies in the forest, the wilds will reclaim it within a day.
Localized Phenomena
The heart of the forest is inhabited by an unknown creature. This place is most often avoided, but over the years many tales have been spun, some beautiful, some downright gruesome. Younglings are often warned about the forest and people tend to be wary of it. Per general rule you are not to enter the forest further than where the pernuhls start growing.
Natural Resources
The Tattan wilds are known for their plenty of plants and fungi to be used in medicine, food, beverages and the like.
