Dark Creatures
Dark Creatures are the spawn of The Dark One, embodiments of traits taken to extremes until they are detrimental to the self and to their surroundings. Dark Creatures come in different forms and facets of the self, but in their true form are quite similar.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Constantly shifting and evolving grotesquely, Dark Creatures are generally humanoid-ish in shape, vaguely bipedal, and typically only have one head.
Genetics and Reproduction
They are parasitic, and reproduce by corrupting other species and predominately grow stronger with the corruption of sentient species.
Ecology and Habitats
Anywhere. Seriously. Well, it can live anywhere, but it much prefers places with sentient creatures, so there are some limitations.
Dietary Needs and Habits
It feeds and grows on negative emotions, and thus prefers sentient creatures who are suffering
Biological Cycle
Thrives off of winter depression and separation of sentient creatures. Appears to not age in any noticeable way.

Social Structure
All follow orders of The Dark One, the supreme leader and origin of the darkness. They have no corporeal form yet, but it would be made up of all the Dark Creatures that spawned from it.
There are some Dark Creatures that rise ranks through strength, cunning, or guile, but all will submit to The Dark One.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Dark matter can be extracted from these creatures seemingly without end. Can be used as a poison of sorts, and will corrupt anything living that it touches.
Facial characteristics
Completely devoid of facial features, or absolutely covered in them. No in-between.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
If they manage to make "eye contact" with someone, it can communicate telepathically with them directly.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
It latches onto any sapient species it can, tries to suck the emotions out of them if it is impatient, or leeches off of individuals for extended periods of time if they are more cunning.

Naming Traditions
Their name is the trait that they embody. If one is built around jealousy, they are named Jealousy. Some of the more cunning ones take more complex names that are still related to their trait, but are more subtle.

Abyssal is the primary language of the Dark Creatures.

All other species are prey. That is hardly ever fought against.
