Chocolate for the Common

At the start of the century, chocolate was a sweet confectionary reserved for the elite. Cocoa imported from far away places was expensive and used for the production of cocoa drinks and small tablets consumed at the most luxurious of balls. With the invention of new machines and the increase in trade, this changed. It was in 2594 SD that Hoppoly Chocolate Company started to mass produce chocolate bars and attempted to break into the general market. At first they failed.
The common folk were not one for manufactured candy. For centuries, dried sticks of huckles root were the traditional confectionery of Garyiala. The sweet, aromatic plant was inexpensive and also believed to have medicinal properties. It was the innovative suggestion by an intern four years later to add a collectible to the Hoppoly chocolate bars that made its popularity spike overnight.

Collection of Nelin

Originally a gear manufacturer, Hoppoly Company designed a flat gear with an image etched into the centre known as Hero Gears, and added them in the wrapper of their chocolate bars. The image was of one of many nelin spirits from the Kysan folk religion. These images were drawn by the up and coming cartoonist Fallal Vulmar, who would later become known for translating old legends into a modern version.
The company managed to touch upon a well loved part of Garyialan culture, as nelin take the centre in many heroic legends known to every child and adult. The collecting of Hero Gears became the newest rage, with gears being traded and betted in games such as ring taw. Recently, the company produced a collection cylinder that can be obtained with the purchase of five chocolate bars.
