Pirmas (Wildlings)

While outsiders fear the monstrous fauna of the Wild Lands there are still many tribes which live off its bounty. They have lived within its foliage for thousands of years, settled but not static. The have developed great sophistication in their use of the Wild Lands resources.

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

Most Pirman tribes are devoted to a single creature of great spiritual and physical power who is worshiped as a god by the tribe members. This worship is built around a relationship of reciprocity. The god is cared for and given regular offerings while in turns products of its power are harvested by the tribe for their own survival. The tribes most often have a small number of individuals designated as their gods primary caretakes who are are either the tribal leader outright or at least wield considerable political power.

Common Myths and Legends

The Pirmas believe that all of humanity was originally birthed in the Wild Lands from the Earth itself. Their name itself means "the First People" for they are the only tribe of man who remained in their Motherland. This makes them the only people to have remained studious to their mother and their home.   This has led to some crisis when outlanders insist that the headless, manticores, or some similarly strange race is just as human as they are. It would of course be ridiculous to assert that these creatures were the natural offspring of humans as the Pirmas know them. So it is commonly held wisdom among border tribes that humans with such strange and monstrous characteristics must be the result of ancestors who were either cursed or blessed by the gods for some extreme action of sin or heroism. It is a common story telling tradition to try to puzzle out the origins of the strange races of men, constructing elaborate mythologies based off history received second or third hand from travelers.
