Meqlesh Arshuk
High Warchief
Meqlesh Arshuk was high warchief of the Steppe forces in the Oriental Crusade. He was born during the long migration, and took a prominent role in the subjugation of Varshalshka's local tribes. After the Oriental Crusade began, he resumed his position of warchief, and his tactics in relation to local indigenous peoples changed drastically -- he worked tirelessly to promote local culture and customs. Historians are still divided over whether this represented a legitimate interest in preserving local traditions, or was merely an opportunistic attempt to gain local support. If it was the latter, it was successful, as his leadership lead to increased local support, vital for the guerilla war the Steppe tribes found themselves fighting.
