Western Phiaro Company

The Western Phiaro Company is a merchant league based in the Shajīn Kingdom, founded in 1456 in Mashā, a city on the western branches of the Phiaro river, by Thas Yarutīh to start commerce on a large scale with the Cajenian League and then the Free Lands.

Structure

At the top of the organization hierarchy sits the head merchant, coordinating the company's efforts. Their work is verified during and after their mandate by a Council of Merchants, which also elects them.

History

In his first years, the company was timidly trading with the most important Cajenian markets, the same cities where all the other merchants went: our advantage was that we possessed the largest fleet in the west branches of the Phiaro, which allowed us to offer the same products the other companies were trading, but for lower prices. What little opposition we meet, we were soon strong enough to absorb, straight up buying their ships or renting them to enlargen our fleet. Within ten years, the business was solid and our ships we were ready to tackle the dream that had driven my actions in the first place: bringing goods to the Free Lands.   I knew their judges had been buying Arnakian glass for five hundred years, but I also knew that were doing so through a sloppy, mostly ground-based route crossing the Nāqqiād territory: it was dangerous and expensive, but the only alternative were Cajenian merchants, arguably less dangerous, but far more expensive. I envisioned the possibility of a direct route, from our cities of the west Phiaro straight to the main markets in the Free Lands.   I embarked myself in the first ship to set sail: by the summer 1467 I was in Kajiar, establishing a relation that will last forever.
