Madison City

Madison City is a consolidated city-parish that was erected along the highway near White Lake, Louisiana. Unlike most cities which are usually clumps of districts and neighborhoods, most of Madison City stretches out along a highway leading west from New Orleans. The city is surrounded by The Swamp. On more dry patches of land, plantation-style mansions, shops, and public locations.   Madison City is relatively quiet, not attracting too much attention to itself, beyond its strange layout and South Solomon University. The populace of Madison usually keep to themselves, tending to their own business and stay out of each other's affairs. This quiet distance between neighbors is broken up by occasional parties or events hosted at Saint Solomon University, Museum of Solar History, or Mon Lance Chateau.   Madison City prizes her university most of all, with most of the inhabitants working for or in relation to South Solomon. Those that attend the college usually take require classes like antiquities, occult history, and world religions. Despite it's name and the other biblical names of buildings and organizations in town, most of the town's Christians worship quietly, without provocation or public flair. The city appears to be fairly progressive for its time, but some traditions are harder to break than others. Study of the occult is often frowned upon and most citizens disapprove of visitors who come seeking eldritch knowledge.

Demographics

Madison City's population isn't as large as other metropolitan areas around the United States. More than 60% of the population is between the ages of 35 and 55.

Government

Madison City is run by Madison City Council, which is comprised of the descendants of the founding families of the city. The city also has several public-elected officials, including Mayor and Commissioner, but they tend to be at the mercy of the City Council. The City Council has money and influence and owns most of the swamps and dry lands around Madison.
