The Mage War is at an end

The surrender of key members of the Magisterium brought a sudden, if staggered, end to the Mage War. Having stood alone against the Iron Alliance for some three weeks, the Bjerian Empire finally agreed to end hostilities on the fifth of Galdiwað 5.920, and Emperor Sigfrid Iaenbeorht issued a public statement to that effect, which was made via print and radio the morning that the armistice was signed.

Content

The Mage War is at an end.   The allies to whose aid we have lent our strength have surrendered to the Iron Alliance, and I have detrmined that continuing to fight alone is not in the interests of the Empire. Yesterday, I met with the leaders of the Alliance and we have signed an armistice; hostilities across all fronts were suspended as of six o'clock this morning.   With this settled, we must now turn our minds to the future. This protracted campaign has been taxing, and the road to recovery will be long, but I will continue on as your emperor, leading the task of rebuilding our strength, our cities, and our people, and providing stability and consistency as we continue to march towards the future.   I require all loyal citizens to turn your hearts and hands to the welfare of our Motherland and our returning warriors. I know that you will not shrink from this hard task, but rise to the occasion, fearless and undefeated.

Consequences

By tradition, the Empré of Bjeria would step down upon losing a war but Emperor Sigfrid refused to do so. This fact, more than any other, contributed to the Keene Revolution.
