Praenuntium Imperium

The elite special forces of Dium Imperator Maximillian. Thirteen individuals hold the rank of Paladin and they are led by the Lord Commander. While the Praenuntium Imperium operates as special forces for the Dium Imperator, they are granted nearly unmatched authority within Astrum Imperium's military, allowing them the right to take command of supplies, units, and missions as they see fit.
Given the near-unlimited amount of influence they wield within the empire, the process of becoming a Paladin is extremely rigorous. Soldiers who set themselves apart within the ranks of the military may be selected by any officer to attempt the Paladin trials. While only 13 individuals can serve as Paladins at a time, each Paladin leads a small number of individuals known as Knights. Paladins are trained as special forces but also study piloting, battlefield command, and star magic. Individuals who reach the rank hold a rather elite status within the empire, however, their presence often causes resentment and awe from the rest of the military.

Structure

Lord Commander

Chosen by the Dium Imperator himself, the Lord Commander is usually the most loyal and most skilled in the order. They receive the will of the Dium Imperator and then assign Paladins to carry out his wishes.

Paladin

Twelve individuals in the entire empire occupy this role. They are selected by the other Paladins from the ranks of Knights when a Paladin position is available. Their assignments come from the Lord Commander.
Knight
Knights are Paladins in training. Those who have passed the trials are assigned to a Paladin to study under. They accompany their Paladin on assignments and aid them to the best of their ability.
