The Chains pub
Most buildings around the foundries are replaced every few years since fires are common but The Chains has defied the odds and been there long enough to become an institution. This miraculous survival is down to one thing, the steelworkers guild and its members. The foundries run around the clock and the pub stays open to cater for them so there are always a few hanging around in the common room. Most people run from fire but steelworkers treat it as an old friend and have no problem stamping out an errant flame before it can take hold.
Alterations
An enterprising owner constructed a bathhouse out the back with a hatch that opens onto the bar. The steelworkers can get a beer while showering and then relax in the communal tub. The hot water is provided by a wooden pipe running from the foundry next door.
Defenses
The Chains is guarded by a dog large enough to be mistaken for a shaggy-haired pony. It was a gift from the members of the steelworkers guild in thanks for the friendship of the Bromtals. Its favourite snack is coal and at least one of the workers brings a lump in every day for it to gnaw on.
