Swap the boat

The boy tries to lift the hatch on his own but it's too heavy for him so Grom helps. It opens onto a ladder and a man sleeping in a corner of a small room. Grom goes first while you thank the boy for his help. He holds his boat out again and you swap them back.   The sleeping man stirs as Grom clomps past him but he keeps his back to you as you leave the room. A series of ladders lead you all the way to the bottom where you find yourself in a kitchen with a cold stove.   "Guess no one's home," Grom says as he studies a map plastered to the wall. You duck under a hammock strung across the room but Grom shrieks, pulling you back as a skeleton dressed in rags lurches from the shadows.   Grom retreats to the ladder but the rungs snap and he falls onto his back. The skeleton advances but soon becomes tangled in the hammock. Its thrashing only serves to tighten the ropes and it becomes trapped.   "Now's our chance," Grom pushes you past the skeleton and to the door. The handle sticks but you and Grom give it a shove bursting out into a cavernous room.   The temple is on the right and the doors shine brightly as you slam the door shut behind you. A hooded figure hiding behind a crate jumps in surprise and then turns and flees from the temple.   "She won't be back in a hurry. Just in case though," Grom says as he slips the axe from his belt. "There's the temple like I promised."

Grom stands guard while you approach the tall double doors. Each has three panels with relief sculptures that have been worn by time but you can see mountains and seas along with forests and a great expanse punctuated with angular towers. As you approach a sound grows within your body, as a vibration played upon a string. A warm feeling of safety and comfort builds with the song and lifts your soul so that by the end you are on tiptoes and smiling to the heavens.   Time passes unnoticed until Grom coughs and taps you on the shoulder. He has his ticket book out an expectant look on his face. "Do you want a return ticket? You only paid one way. If you want me to show you the way out then it will cost you."   One return ticket, please
