Chanet's Unseen Rivers
In the northwest corner of The Jennarian Desert, not far from the field of bones, is an area called the Chanet. It is an unremarkable barren plain nestled in the lee of jagged peaks. The sparse vegetation supports a population of small deer and tiny birds that flit among the scrub that somehow clings to life in the arid desert. Over millennia snowmelt from the mountains carved channels through the rock leaving behind a network of tunnels and caves. Natural damns formed slowing the flow and creating rivers.
When the Marsh Elves arrived they used their prodigious talents to make the underworld habitable and they lived there for many generations until the humans came and pushed them out.
Now the Chanet is home to all those seeking to escape the harshness of the desert and the cruelty of The Dragon Empire that rules in the mountains. The humans have the under while the marsh elves eke out an existence in the sun's glare.
