Innoruuk Character in Norrath | World Anvil

Innoruuk

The Prince of Hate

Father of the Dark Elves and champion of destruction, Innoruuk is lawful evil. His worshipers believe that hate is a driving force within the universe and that the creativity inspired by hate propels the devout to new heights of power. Kindness, mercy, and love are the watchwords of weak fools who fail to understand the true power that awaits them in cruelty.

History

The Prince of Hate, jealous of Tunare's creation of the Elves and enraged by his exclusion in the pact formed by the gods during the Age of Scale, kidnapped the royal Elves of Takish-Hiz and proceeded to twist and corrupt them to his will. Thus were born the Dark Elves, or Teir'Dal, of Norrath. His legion of followers is not limited to just the Dark Elves though. During the Age of Turmoil , there was a faction of Humans living below the city of Freeport that honored him. He is believed to be responsible for the creation of many of the twisted and corrupted races across Norrath.   Innoruuk's realm, the Plate of Hate, was left open to mortals as a consequence of his own intervention in world of Norrath. During the Age of Turmoil , there was a great battle that took place in Kithicor Forest. It is regarded as the bloodiest war in the history of Norrath. The Dark Elves, along with their Ogre and Troll allies, formed an army they referred to as The Obliteration. Their intent was to control the northern trade route between Qeynos and Freeport. To do this, they would need to sack High Pass at the base of the Serpent's Spine mountains. A coalition of Elves, Dwarves, and Humans marched into the woods from High Pass led by the champion of Tunare, Firiona Vie. They were met by an army led by Neriak's most decorated warrior, Laarthik K'Shin, and his pupil, the daughter of Innoruuk himself, Lanys T'Vyl. When it became clear that Dark Elves would fail in their attempt to claim High Pass, the Prince of Hate entered the mortal realm to turn the tides. Firiona Vie was saved by the grace of Tunare, while Lanys T'Vyl was summoned to the safety of the Plate of Hate. The forgotten souls that perished in the battle still wander the forest every night.   Innoruuk has also made pacts with several mortals, including Venril Sathir, the Iksar Lich King, and Sir Lucan D'Lere, the Overlord of Freeport.

Followers

Almost the entire Dark Elves race sees The Prince of Hate as their true father. They trust in him that hate is the driving force in the universe. Their devotion to hate has led them to believe love is simply a means for the weak-minded fools of the world who are too scared to take what they want. Spite is the only true way to overpower your enemies. Innoruuk's children believe in their dark hearts that if they could combine their hate collectively, they could destroy Norrath. The Broken Skull clan of Trolls are also devoted followers of Innoruuk.

Avatar

In most lore, Innoruuk is depicted as a tall, lanky, hunched-over Troll-like man with an elongated nose and pointy ears. While most of his skin is green, his hands and feet fade into an almost purple shade of blue. His clothing consists of a black tunic with a blood red cape.
