Ianthe, the middle Halloway daughter is the rebel of the sisters. She is at the age where she believe her mothers are trying to control all aspects of her life, and is still young enough to resent it without understanding the reasons behind it. She looks on her family responsibility as a burden, and wishes that she was not born a Halloway. She takes her wealth for granted and flaunts it from time to time. She thinks that anyone can have her wealth if they just work hard enough so doesn't appreciate what she has. She looks down on people who do not move in her social circles. She is also at the age where her enjoyment take precedence over her responsibilities. She also has an attraction to danger and dangerous people. She loves her sisters, and would defend them, but she resents that Holly oftens sides with her mothers, and that ivy often is held to a different standard due to her younger age. She is the typical spoiled middle child.
