16th of Irami’el 1245 AE

After helping them Janos Dorivas made it clear that most of the Crystal Vipers were members of a cult which Janos had been trying to get rid of for quite some time. Although he no direct affiliation himself he devised a plan to take over from within by using members he recruited for his cause. The recent attack on the Shadow Fangs was the ideal moment for Janos to execute his plan.
The adventurers attacked the base of the Crystal Vipers aided by Janos Dorivas and his companions. Once they arrived they noticed that most of the hideout had already been cleared out by the forces of Janos. However once the group traveled deeper into the base they found that their allies were falling like flies to one creature. A fierce fire elemental in the form of a snake blocked their passage. The fight that ensued was hard and caused several party members to go down, almost falling victim to the flames. After the fight the base was free of the cult but Arkud Bloodgrip was nowhere to be found. It appeared the leader of the Athos cult managed to escape through a magic portal in his office. 
Together with Hideo they decided to travel to a hidden temple, the most likely place for the remainder of the cult to be hiding. The adventurers would have to travel deeper into Vamena forest, however, to the ruins of the ancient Avaronian City of Vamerilth.

Trough Vamena Forest

17th of Irami’el 1245 AE

After leaving Ironpeak the adventurers went southwards into Vamena Forest. Their travel to the ruins of the city took a day and half. Everything went fine during the day besides them finding the body of a Vanguard soldier. During the night however they were attacked by several plantlike humanoids and a will-o’-the-wisp. The adventurers handled this nightly visit well and could continue their journey the next day.
When the group arrived at Vamerlith they saw that the city was mostly covered in trees and roots after years of neglect but some buildings were still standing. They had to search the remainder of the day to find any evidence of the temple but after some time they found an illusion at the lower section of an old building. They went past the illusion and saw a long staircase going down before them.
