Kelemvor is the god of the dead, charged with guiding those who have passed from life onto their souls' next destination. Whereas The Raven Queen is feared as the goddess who brings death, Kelemvor is seen as a comforting spirit to those who have already died. Kelemvor teaches his clergy to preach that death is a natural part of life, a next step everyone must one day face that should not be feared. At his creed, his clergy both provide funeral services and offer healing to prevent people from dying before their time. Arguably most importantly, a special branch known as the Necrobanes are dedicated to the extermination of all undead, which Kelemvor sees as a perversion to the sanctity of balance between life and death.
2,500 years ago, the Church of Kelemvor was one of the most powerful religions in the Ashes Archipelago. The regular clergy traveled across the isles providing aid to those in need while the his necrobanes all but purged undead from the region. So great was their success that they turned to also hunting wicked, otherworldly fiends in lieu of more undead to destroy. Among their number was the warforged N28, who briefly traveled alongside the adventurers the Venture Boys. Sadly, she was later killed by the devilish N36 who harvested her body for parts to upgrade his own. Other members of the Church of Kelemvor hunted for her killer but never found him, unaware that N36 had left Nexus entirely.
