Fiule (FEE-ul)

Before Eschile Lowhy, Fiule was a one of many typical farming communities of the Sunnyland-Aster. But because of her contribution, it rose to prominence as one of the greatest towns among the "cities of pleasure."

Humble Beginnings

Founded in the year 43 as Gamrue by settlers from nearby towns, the town grew painfully slow. By 530, the town had been abandoned and refounded at least 4 times. At its 5th and final founding in 530, it was named Fiule and had a population of a little over a 1000.   When the Doeson first emerged, many among them were Fiulians and returned to their hometown in disgrace of their curse. But among them was Eschile Lowhy who was among the few who took pride in their new bodies and went about making the most of it. Through wit and guile, she enticed wealthy clients of "exotic" sexualities to Fiule and, through their generous contributions, opened the first brothel, the House of the Doe Face, in 600.

A City of Art and Pleasure

The Doe Face grew in size and influence. By 640, it had spilled into ten other buildings and houses and employed nearly half the town's families. Other beastpeople flocked to this haven escaping the traces of persecution or the law and established competing brothels. In months, the town was transformed into a city of show and pleasure with its own circus of whores.   With the rise of other cities like Pfinsk and New Oriole, Fiule began to shrink in size. Many of the brothels closed but in response performing arts took off. In the 780s, there opened a school of dance, a school of charade, and a school of herbalism, none of which offered official degrees recognized outside the city walls until 824.

A City's End

Fiule kept its reputation as a city of art and pleasure for centuries, experiencing a breath of life every few years by visiting artists and other celebrities. But the 1530s, the purges of the Holy Church of Helen tightened control over these amoral establishments and taxed them almost to oblivion. By 1550, the town was reduced to illegally operated brothels and an economy weighed down by criminal activity. The years dragged on and the city became a blighted husk of itself. It was burned to the ground by the Church in 1582.
