When the Liberty Security Corporation arrived on Frisia it quickly moved to establish control over the local population. Arming the most powerful Sippes, the LSC crushed those Sippes that did not submit to corporate rule. This reign of terror was the stick to bring the Sippes in line, but the most famous carrot was the Peace and Mercy Hospital. To a society that had lost most of its technology over 100 years ago the treatments available through modern medicine bordered on magic. Green Vein patients thought to be hopeless cases were saved, Frisian warriors who had lost limbs were given prosthetics, sight was restored to the blind, and other treatments were just the tip of the iceberg.
But these miracle treatments came at a cost. Only those Sippes that submit to visualization by the LSC and provided tribute were allowed to send their kinsmen to the Hospital. Sippe chiefs that were ready to fight to the bitter end were no match against the pleas of their kinsmen, watching as their wives suffered horrific infant mortality rates while those of other Sippes lived. In Sippe Slaat, Chief Jurrijn "The Hammer" was assassinated, and a LSC puppet elected as the new chief by Sippe members desperate to receive medical care.
Frisian Shamans, are split over whether to come out against the hospital or not.  The hospital is the return of the knowledge they have worked so hard to preserve, but many see the danger it poses for permanent control.  Additionally, many shamans are jealous of the showmanship the LSC is capable of with modern entertainment technology, no match for the mystical presentation they are able to present.
