The Human Lands

The Human Lands are a group of five sovereignties that are generally referred to simply as 'The Human Lands' by other nations. One of the founding members of the Alliance, the Human Lands lie at the east of the Alliance.

Structure

The human lands are five separate sovereignties, united by a shared history and membership of the Alliance. The kingdoms are Urivale, Siressia, Albrenack, Erellion and Vertmerrow.

History

Historically, the human lands were once all conquered by the legendary King Robert the Forger. For several generations the empire remained, until Robert’s great grandson Charles split the empire between his five children on his deathbed.

Military

Each of the five sovereignties has its own army, each a mix of professional soldiers, locally sourced militia and aristocratic knights. There is a mix of tactics, arms and armour between the realms. Plate armour is preferred, but only Urivale, Siressia, and Albrenack have the money and resources for plate armour to be common among soldiers and knights. At the lower end of the scale we have the army of Erellion, made up mostly of militia hurriedly armed with bill hooks and long bows, accompanied by free riders and a handful of knights. At the other end of the scale the armies of Albrenack consist mainly of anchored men at arms armed with pikes and halberds, supported by leagues of crossbowmen and elite cavalry forces. The other three kingdoms sit between the two. Urivale is known for the quality of its cavalry, often breeding the best horses as well as having well trained cavalrymen to ride them. Siressia has probably the best naval strength amongst the humans, and tends to be able to hire the most mercenary companies besides Albrenack. Vertmerrow is known for the quality of its archers, longbows as well as crossbows unusually for human kingdoms.

Religion

The official state religion of the Human Lands, along with the majority of the Alliance, is the Temporal Church.

Trade & Transport

As a member of The Alliance, the Human Lands are able to conduct prime trade with the other member states in return for contributing resources into a communal pot to be distributed to the members of The Alliance who need it.
