Vertmerrow

Vertmerrow, the last of the five kingdoms was originally largely unoccupied lands. The seat of its Lords, Wrybrook, was merely a small town when the kingdoms were split. However, Vertmerrow makes up the most fertile farming land in not only the human lands but almost all of Pangea. Their current ruling house is house Greenbrooke. It was founded by Charles’s youngest son Alden, a cunning man who realised having control of the food supply would give him an advantage his siblings would not realise until too late. The current ruler of Vertmerrow is King Richard Greenbrooke, known as the lame king, or Richard the Black. Despite the foreboding titles as well as a mysterious reputation with the other Kingdoms, Richard is beloved by his people and regarded as a fair, just and learned ruler, despite the lame leg that earnt him the name of the lame king. Their motto is “Behold our bounty”.

History

Originally part of the lands conquered by Robert the Forger, Vertmerrow became an independent Kingdom when Robert's grandson Charles split the lands of his grandfather between his five children. Vertmerrow was the chosen seat of his youngest child, King Alden.

Agriculture & Industry

As a feudal nation Vertmerrow is primarily agriculturally focused, and is in fact the most fertile of the human kingdoms. They grow wheat, barley, oats, peas, beans, onions, leeks and turnips. They're orchards grow apples, pears and plums, and their vineyards grow grapes.
In terms of livestock, Vertmerrow breeds cattle, pigs, sheep, and goats, as well as keeping bees for honey.
Vertmerrow also has the most granaries and storehouses of the human kingdoms, due to a recent building scheme by the current king. The storehouses were mapped out by the King and his council as a state-run scheme to be used by any citizen of Vertmerrow for a small fee, in order that the kingdom would always be prepared for an agricultural disaster such as bad harvests.

Trade & Transport

As a member of The Alliance, Vertmerrow is able to conduct prime trade with the other member states in return for contributing resources into a communal pot to be distributed to the members of The Alliance who need it. Of all the human kingdoms Vertmerrow contributes the most to this communal food supply.
